Regulated Facilities
Regulated facilities on TerraPulse are organized into the regulated_facility
Directorydex — a national registry and crosswalk of environmentally regulated sites,
drawn from the EPA’s Facility Registry Service. It is the master list that ties a facility
to every program that regulates it. No estimates, no forecasts.
The dexes
The record lives in a single Directorydex — a registry rather than a running count of events. It maps each regulated facility to the programs that govern it:
| Dex | Holds |
|---|---|
regulated_facility | The national crosswalk of EPA-regulated facilities |
Provenance
Every entry traces to the EPA Facility Registry Service (FRS), the agency’s authoritative, integrated source of facility identification. FRS is what lets one physical site be recognized across air, water, waste, and enforcement programs under a single reference. The source is registered against the dex, so any record carries a direct line back to the originating FRS entry.
What’s in a record
Each facility entry carries:
- Facility — name and FRS registry identifier
- Location — address and, where geocoded, latitude and longitude
- Programs — the EPA programs and permits that regulate the site
- Sector — industry classification and facility type
